Louis recorded these tracks in the days of monaural (1-channel), which is NOT a natural sound. Now, new audio technology called "DES" (Digitally Extracted Stereo) enables engineers to zero in on the frequency of various instruments and vocals, separate them into individual tracks, and then mix them from mono into stereo like a modern, multi-track recording.

The results are STUNNING. You won't believe your ears!

This exciting breakthrough is a laborious and time-consuming process—akin perhaps to restoring an old master canvas that has been painted over. You hear much more detail in the original music and Satchmo really comes alive!
