ELLA FITZGERALD NEW MONO TO STEREO MIXES
$ 14.95 $ 16.95
This CD debuts 20 of Ella Fitzgerald's classic (as well as lesser known) recordings for the first time in STEREO. They had been recorded in the days of (1-channel) monaural, which is not a natural sound. But now, new AI technology called "DES" (Digitally Extracted Stereo) enables engineers to zero in on the frequency of various instruments and vocals, separate them into individual tracks, and then mix them into stereo like a modern, multi-track recording.
The results are STUNNING. You won't believe your ears!
This exciting breakthrough is a laborious and time-consuming process—akin perhaps to restoring an old master canvas that has been painted over. You hear much more detail in the original music and Ella really comes alive!

Ella Fitzgerald was Frank Sinatra's favorite female singer, and it's easy to understand why. She was noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing, timing, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, especially in her scat singing. Her agile voice could hit a succession of notes with a rapidity that was astonishing. She could imitate every instrument in the orchestra. She won 13 Grammys and sold over 40 million records.
One of her biggest fans was the luminescent Marilyn Monroe. Ella explained, “I owe her a real debt. It was because of her that I played the Macombo, a very popular nightclub in the '50s. She personally called the owner, and told him she wanted me booked immediately, and if he would do it, she would take a front table every night. The press went overboard. After that I never had to play a small jazz club again."
As Anna Deavere Smith, who wrote a new musical called Ella, reflects, "Composers wanted Ella Fitzgerald to sing their songs because listening to her, they knew how their songs were supposed to be sung. As a jazz singer, a scat singer, she also famously both sang and defined the American song book. To say she had humble beginnings is a profound understatement. She sang America through some of its most decadent times. She was America's love song. She was an American miracle."

WHY IS IT SUCH A BIG DEAL THESE SONGS ARE TURNED FROM MONO INTO STEREO? This from Google: "Stereo sound is generally considered to be better than mono sound because it can create a more immersive and realistic listening experience. Stereo sound uses two audio channels, left and right, to separate the different elements of a song and give them more space to shine. This creates a sense of space and directionality, allowing the listener to perceive where instruments or voices are located within the audio mix. Stereo sound can also reproduce a wider range of frequencies and provide a higher level of detail than mono sound." So THAT's why it's a big deal when Ella's tracks get the new treatment. You think you've heard the songs before but you really haven't ever heard them THIS way...because she recorded them in the days of mono. But now they are stereo. Every music fan should be thrilled!
THE BIG LABELS HAVE BEEN SLOW TO EMBRACE THIS FABULOUS NEW AUDIO TECHNOLOGY so this is a rare opportunity for you to be among the first to listen to classic Ella Fitzgerald tracks for the first time in STEREO. This is a great collectible CD!
